Wednesday Release Performance Video for “Aphotic” — Korean Shoegaze Act Portrays Isolation Through Jellyfish Drifting in the Deep Sea
South Korea-based shoegaze band Wednesday has released a performance video for “Aphotic.”
Their 1st EP, “If You Feel Everything,” released on April 9, 2026, consists of five tracks and traces a gradual descent into emotional isolation, framed through the perspective of a jellyfish drifting through deep, submerged space.
Aphotic” takes its title from the aphotic zone—an ocean layer where light no longer reaches—and translates that concept into a soundscape defined by slow, sinking motion.
The track unfolds at a restrained tempo, where guitars drenched in reverb ripple through the mix and whispered vocals dissolve into the texture, creating an underwater, weightless sensation. In its latter half, the tempo subtly intensifies, building tension before breaking into waves of distortion reminiscent of turbulent currents, bringing the track to a dramatic close.
Positioned within Korea’s emerging shoegaze scene, Wednesday is gaining attention as part of a growing wave of atmospheric, emotionally immersive acts.
