Klimt 1918 Release Music Video for “Dream Core” — New Album “Àmor” Out June 12, 2026

The Italian alternative/post-rock band Klimt 1918 have released a music video for their new track “Dream Core”, while also announcing their fifth album “Àmor, set for release on June 12, 2026 via Prophecy Productions.

Formed in 1999 by brothers Marco Soellner and Paolo Soellner, the band takes its name from painter Gustav Klimt and the year of his passing. Their debut album “Undressed Momento” introduced a sentimental alternative/gothic metal sound influenced by The Cure, while the follow-up “Dopoguerra” further refined that direction, earning comparisons such as “U2 meets Katatonia.”

With their third album “Just In Case We'll Never Meet Again (Soundtrack For The Cassette Generation)” (2008), the band moved away from metal, incorporating elements of ’90s shoegaze, emo, new wave, and post-rock. The result was a bittersweet, emotionally charged sound defined by expansive, cinematic textures that resonated with a wide audience.

Following an eight-year hiatus, Klimt 1918 returned in 2016 with “Sentimentale Jugend”, after which releases once again fell silent. “Àmor” marks their first new album in nearly a decade.

The album was mixed by Tony Doogan (Mogwai, The Twilight Sad, Snow Patrol, Belle and Sebastian) and mastered by Frank Arkwright at Abbey Road Studios (Arcade Fire, Coldplay, Oasis, The Smiths, Joy Division).

It represents a climax of their previous work—shaped into a deeply melancholic, sensual, and majestic collection of captivating music.

Marco Soellner describes the new track as follows:

"Dream Core is a song about resilience, strength, and the ability to overcome life's adversities. We dedicate it to those who choose to love despite everything. To those who believe that a song can trigger the will to change. To those who feel like a storm about to break over a sun-scorched desert.”

In addition to performing at the label-hosted Prophecy Fest, the band has also been confirmed for Wave-Gotik-Treffen 2026, signaling a likely increase in live activity surrounding the new release.
