Distressor Releases New Single “Wishless”—Introspective Shoegaze Steeped in Quiet Resignation
San Diego–based shoegaze band Distressor have unveiled their latest single, “Wishless.”
The band made their debut in 2023 with their first full-length album Momentary, quickly drawing attention for their emotionally restrained yet immersive sound. Since then, they have steadily expanded their presence: releasing “Tomorrow,” a collaboration with Wisp, late last year; following it with “Yearn” in March; and moving closer to emo territory with “Broken Glass” in August.
Built on sinking melodies and hushed intensity, the track resonates with the refrain “I don’t wish anymore,” confronting the listener with a sense of quiet resignation rather than overt despair. It is a song that speaks through restraint, allowing exhaustion, withdrawal, and emotional suffocation to linger in the margins.
Distressor are currently preparing their second album, scheduled for release in 2026. “Wishless” stands as a telling glimpse of what lies ahead. Fans should stay tuned for further updates.
