The Florist Releases New Song “Sundown” — Portraying Loneliness Beneath a Fleeting Afterglow — New EP Out December 24
Tokyo-based alternative rock/shoegaze band The Florist has released a new song, “Sundown.”
The four-piece—Hiroyuki Imamura (vocals, guitar), Yosuke Shiina (guitar), Hideyuki Sunaga (K2O) (bass), and Takamitsu Hiruma (drums)—pursues a dark yet romantic sound that draws from shoegaze, goth, new wave, emo, and hardcore. To date, The Florist has released three albums, gradually deepening both its sonic approach and aesthetic world. Beyond its own releases, the band has expanded its scope through songwriting for the shoegazer idol project RAY, as well as providing arrangement and performance for “Isana,” a key track from voice actor Soma Saito’s solo album “in bloom” (2020). On “Sundown,” clear, translucent vocals intertwine with icy guitar textures, evoking the fleeting moment at dusk when light and warmth begin to fade, leaving behind a profound sense of melancholy.
