Shoegaze × Metalgaze: Death of Heather & Torrayot Release “No Sun” MV—Second Single from Collaboration “Death of Torrayot”
A collaborative project between Thai shoegaze band Death of Heather and metalgaze artist Torrayot, titled Death of Torrayot, has unveiled the music video for their second single, “No Sun.”
Death of Heather are a shoegaze band signed to Smallroom and have established a strong reputation, including three visits to Japan between 2023 and 2024. Torrayot, meanwhile, is an artist who describes his approach as “metal-gaze,” blending the heaviness of Deftones, Sepultura, and Sleep with the hypnotic beauty associated with The Cure and My Bloody Valentine.
On the new track “No Sun,” Death of Heather’s ethereal soundscapes come to the forefront, guiding the listener into a melancholic space through a slow, post-rock–to–slowcore-leaning tempo. Visuals of a young girl dissolving into noise further heighten the sense of immersion, while the contrast between the vocals of Thanakarn Tangjaiyen (Death of Heather) and Torrayot adds a distinct depth unique to Death of Torrayot. When heard alongside the groove-driven feel of their first single “Horoscope,” the track more clearly reveals the duality that defines Death of Torrayot’s evolving vision.
