Nagisami Unveils the Video for “rūpa”—Shoegaze with Formless Sound and Sea
Kouki Yoneda’s solo project nagisami has released the music video for their fifth single “rūpa”.
nagisami is a DIY artist who handles everything from composition to mixing, mastering, and even video production. While previous works primarily featured vocaloids, this release marks a new stage, featuring hyakuka, the former vocalist of Osaka-based alternative rock band byuO, as a guest.
Kouki Yoneda commented on the single as follows:
“rūpa” is a Sanskrit word meaning “form” — all things with shape, as expressed in the Buddhist phrase form is emptiness.
In a world that values dualities — right or wrong, meaningful or meaningless, existence or nonexistence — and demands quick answers, I wanted to express the gradient that lies between, the beauty of ambiguity.
Music itself has no form, yet it can truly be felt. That is why it feels like the perfect medium for my expression.Let us embrace and enjoy this world, full of uncertainty and ambiguity.
Within the ever-shifting expanse of the sea, stillness and motion, darkness and light, collide in rapid succession, eventually blurring the boundary between sky and ocean. The track stands as a true embodiment of nagisami’s aesthetic.
A long-awaited first EP is also scheduled for release this winter, making the project one to watch closely.
