Debut album from Ghostly Kisses, a project by Canadian musicians Margaux Sauvé and Louis-Étienne Santais. The artist name is derived from a line in the poem “Une ballade des dames perdues” by novelist William Faulkner.

Drawing freely from dream pop, electropop, trip-hop, new age, folk, and post-classical, the album presents a dimly lit, delicately textured soundscape, perfectly aligned with Margaux Sauvé’s ethereal and otherworldly vocals. The restrained, carefully controlled arrangements—designed to foreground the voice—are particularly effective.

Led by “Heartbeat”, a dance track defined by its wistful melody, the album maintains a consistently high level of quality throughout. Unlike earlier releases that leaned heavily into deep melancholy, Heaven, Wait allows a faint sense of light to surface, subtly broadening the project’s emotional palette.

Highly recommended for fans of Cocteau Twins, Portishead, Esben and the Witch, Delerium, and Daughter.
