Second EP from Osaka-based psychedelic dream pop band The mellows. A mellow sound that perfectly captures the mood of a midsummer night—soaked in warmth and nostalgia, it practically melts both body and mind.

I’ve seen them live once, and the intoxication was stronger than any drink. The clear standout is track #1, “Plastic Time.” Its vaporwave-tinged music video, featuring footage from Kimagure Orange☆Road, fits the song’s hazy vibe to a tee. Between the late ’70s to ’80s city pop atmosphere and the title itself, it’s hard not to think of Mariya Takeuchi’s “Plastic Love” as a point of reference.
