Third album from Whirr, a California-based shoegaze / dream pop band featuring former Deafheaven guitarist Nick Bassett. After five years of silence, the band resurfaced with a surprisingly low-key release—initially available exclusively on Bandcamp before eventually landing on streaming platforms.

One quick PayPal checkout later, and it was clear this is unmistakably Whirr. The album leans fully into their signature melancholy, delivering a sound that feels instantly familiar yet quietly evolved. Compared to Sway, the icy heaviness is dialed back, replaced by a slower, mellower atmosphere that gives the record its most romantic tone to date. Whispered vocals dissolve into hazy guitars, gently embracing hearts weighed down by loneliness.

They had been quiet for a while, so there was some concern—but this album proves Whirr are still very much alive and capable of delivering something special. Welcome back.
