Kamikazari Unveils the Video for “Setsuna”— Emotionally Charged Shoegaze, Echoing Anger and Despair Through the Night
Kamikazari, a shoegaze band from Chiba, Japan, has released the music video for “Setsuna.”
“Setsuna” is featured on the band’s debut single, “Tears of the Angel,” which was released on streaming platforms on July 29. Built around a deeply melancholic shoegaze sound reminiscent of Whirr, the track erupts into intense, fast-paced passages with screamed vocals, channeling the urgency and darker impulses of post-hardcore and post-black metal.
The music video has the rough, grainy aesthetic of footage captured on an old handheld camera, capturing fragmented scenes of nighttime streets and shadowy landscapes. In the final scene, a sandal floating on dark, almost featureless water leaves a haunting afterimage.
Kamikazari will host their own event, “Counterculture pre Counterculture vol.3,” on October 24 at STUDIO SUN Nishifunabashi. Fans of dark and emotionally charged shoegaze should check this out.
