Distressor Releases New Single “Further From Home”—A Melancholic Shoegaze Track Exploring Loss and Longing
Los Angeles/San Diego-based shoegaze band Distressor has released their new single “Further From Home” alongside an official visualizer.
Distressor combines elements of post-rock and grunge with a heavy, melancholic shoegaze sound. Their latest track “Further From Home” explores themes of loss, loneliness, and the uncertainty that comes with change.
The official visualizer portrays the emotional tension between movement and stillness, as well as light and shadow, through rushing water and the silhouette of a woman. The imagery reflects the song’s sense of isolation and longing, capturing the fragile space between these conflicting emotions.
The track was mixed by Alex Jacobelli at Sunsick Studio and mastered by Adam Cichocki. The cover artwork, created by MISERY TAKE ME, incorporates a double exposure technique inspired by the visualizer. Drawing from analogue double exposures, it creates a melancholic and abstract atmosphere through contrasts of scale, color, and light.
