Choir Boy Return with New Single “I’ll Always Let You Down”—Dream Pop Where Sweetness and Unease Intersect
US Salt Lake City-based dream pop/synth-pop project Choir Boy has released the music video for its new single “I’ll Always Let You Down.”
Led by singer-songwriter and vocalist Adam Klopp, Choir Boy debuted in 2016 with Passive with Desire. The project later signed to Dais Records and released its second album Gathering Swans in 2020, expanding its international recognition through a romantic sound shaped by 80s nostalgia. This marks the first new music since 2020.
“I’ll Always Let You Down” is produced by Jorge Elbrecht, known for his work with Sky Ferreira and Japanese Breakfast. While retaining the project’s core romantic sensibility, the track pushes further into a space where sweetness and unease coexist. Built around drum machine patterns and a dirty synth bassline, Adam Klopp’s angelic vocals drift across the mix with an almost spectral elegance.
Klopp describes the track as “an anti-love song—a sardonic self-indictment of a failing lover.”
Fans of The Cure, Drab Majesty, and House of Harm should check this out.
