Embrium Share Live Performance on KEXP—Rising Blackgaze Act from San Francisco

Embrium have released a live performance session recorded at KEXP.

Embrium formed during the 2020 pandemic, emerging from a collaboration between Mosahefu (gt/vo), Jade Forsythe (vo), and Joey Menicucci (gt/vo/ba). Their sound seamlessly blends the ferocity of black metal with the weightless drift of shoegaze, layered with folk-tinged melodies that evoke a sense of melancholy, resulting in an atmospheric and emotionally resonant sonic palette.

In this session, the band performs three tracks from their 2025 debut album “Timekeeper,” exploring themes of time, loss, magic, and self-discovery through a layered and immersive sonic approach. Melodic guitar work, combined with the contrast between Mosahefu’s ethereal clean vocals and Jade Forsythe’s piercing screams, creates a richly layered approach that brings depth beyond mere walls of sound.

The latter half of the video also features an interview, where the members introduce themselves, discuss the creative process behind “Timekeeper,” cite influential artists, and share early thoughts on future material.

Fans of blackgaze and post-black metal should check this out.
