Hakusei no Sora Release a Preview Single from Their Debut Full-Length Album: Cinematic Post-Rock Infused with a Melancholic Japanese Aesthetic
Tokyo-based shoegaze/post-rock band Hakusei no Sora has released "Manten no Kyozo ni Yumemita Kodo wa" from their first full-length album, "Genso no Wakusei, Hakusei no Soten," which is set to be released on May 29, 2026.
Formed by brothers Kôhei Sugiyama (guitar) and Yusuke Sugiyama (vocals/guitar), the band first emerged with their 2019 EP “Ame no Naka, Hikari Afurete.” Rooted in shoegaze and post-rock, their sound weaves delicate ambience with surging walls of guitar, creating a dynamic and immersive soundscape. Their music pairs an innocent, translucent vocal presence with melodies tinged with a distinctly Japanese sense of melancholy, resulting in a narrative-like depth that has resonated with listeners.
Following a four-year production period marked by lineup changes and a subsequent regrouping, the new album expands their sonic palette with the addition of violin, cello, and flute. Building on their post-rock foundations, the band moves toward a more layered and cinematic direction, further refining their atmospheric scope.
In conjunction with the release, a special event has been announced at Ikebukuro Chop in Tokyo, marking a significant moment that signals the band’s next chapter.
