Softcult Announce Return to Japan—Four-Date Tour in Support of Debut Full-Length “When A Flower Doesn't Grow”
The Ontario-based grunge/shoegaze duo Softcult has announced their first Japan run in three years, scheduled for June 5–8, 2026, with performances in Kyoto, Shizuoka, and Tokyo (Shinjuku and Shindaita).
Formed in 2020 by twin sisters Mercedes Arn-Horn (Vo/Gt) and Phoenix Arn-Horn (Vo/Dr/Production), the band has drawn international attention for fusing dense, grunge-inflected distortion with shadowed melodic textures reminiscent of The Cure, underscored by a sharp punk urgency.
Often associated with a contemporary continuation of the 1990s Riot Grrrl ethos, their self-described “Riot Gaze” channels independence and defiance through a distinctly modern lens. Their hands-on DIY approach—extending to artwork and visual production—further reinforces a cohesive artistic identity.
While their previous Japan performances left a lasting impression on local audiences, this upcoming tour, featuring their long-awaited full-length album, offers a definitive look into the heart of their evolving creative vision.
