The Crush Take Their Dark-Gaze Sensibility to a New Stage with New Single “Urchin”—New EP ‘Samhain’ Out October 31
The Crush has released a new track, “Urchin”, the lead single from their upcoming EP “Samhain”, set for release on October 31.
Released following a lineup change, “Urchin” demonstrates The Crush’s bold evolution.
“Urchin” is a bold statement from The Crush: wavering between 11/8 and 4/4, the track is carried by an urgent drum pattern, with guitars stumbling in and out of sync. Tze Long’s vocals lead the listener down a dark path into uncertainty, as incidental horns infuse jazz’s playful enchantment to The Crush’s signature dark-gaze sensibility. Prickly on the outside but soft and tender within, androgynous and defying characterisation, simply ‘being’ is a proof of existence.
The Crush appears to have reached a new stage in their development, building anticipation for their return to Japan with this release.
